PRO's mission is to encourage and facilitate restoration of the Pioneer as an Amtrak train running between Denver and Seattle via Wyoming and northern Utah.

"Amtrak would be a welcome addition to public transportation...but it is not going to happen”, Idaho Senator Mike Crapo pointed out, “unless there is widespread community support.  Communities will have to do whatever they can to help Amtrak be confident there will be the necessary passenger traffic and support for the route to be successful.”  Crapo said, “We have an opportunity to push the Pioneer to the front burner."   Senator Crapo was cited in an Idaho State Journal editorial, October 26, 2007.
