	Councilmember Whiting introduced Resolution 09-21. Councilmember Whiting moved, Councilmember Perkes seconded, to adopt Resolution 09-21.

	Resolution 09-21: A RESOLUTION OF THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, WYOMING, AUTHORIZING AND PLEDGING SUPPORT FOR RESTORING AMTRAK PASSENGER RAIL SERVICE TO THE CITY OF EVANSTON.

 	WHEREAS, Amtrak is currently conducting a feasibility study to determine whether it is feasible to restore rail passenger service to the Pacific Northwest region of the United States: and

 	WHEREAS, the restoration of the rail passenger service would be advantageous for the citizens of Evanston and surrounding area because of the City’s lack of scheduled air service, limited intercity bus service and problematic travel conditions in the winter; and

 	WHEREAS, the City of Evanston has expended funds to restore and upgrade its train depot and associated grounds as part of the historic depot square project; and

 	WHEREAS, the City’s train depot is instantly ready to facilitate and encourage passenger rail service;

 	NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the governing body of the City of Evanston, Wyoming as follows:

 	Section 1. The restoration of passenger rail service by Amtrak to the City of Evanston, Wyoming is encouraged and supported.

 	Section 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to send a letter of support for the restoration of passenger rail service in Evanston to the proper officials of Amtrak.

 	Section 3. The Mayor is also authorized to invite Amtrak officials to visit the City of Evanston and view the City’s train depot and associated facilities.
