Columbia Gorge Community College firmly supports the resumption of Amtrak service to the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge.  Currently there is no Amtrak service to our region’s largest population centers, at Hood River and The Dalles.  This presents a severe inconvenience and barrier to many residents, including our students, who would otherwise consider passenger rail as a travel option.  Resumption of service on the Oregon side of the Columbia River would also reduce vehicle traffic on Interstate 84, which would help reduce our region’s carbon footprint.
